Notes on Medium and Large Format Cameras

Digiflex

-Takes Nikon lenses
-Digital back fits on back instead of film back (the body was specifically designed to take both)
-Needs Firewire cable to tether
-Shitty viewfinder
-Definitely wouldn't use instead of modern cameras.
-No on board memory for digital backs so they must be tethered

Hassleblads
(The H3D2)
-Costs 2400 with back body and lens!
-Operates the same as a DSLR
-On board storage (CF Card)
-Good view finer
-Doesn't have a million complicated features. Its very basic, it focuses on creating high quality images.
-Software (Phocus) automatically corrects vignetting, aberrations.
-31 mega pixel.
-Still need to consider the viewing distance. If your not going to view something up really close, whats the point of really high resolution?
-Its better to tether.
-Hassleblad had the first camera on the moon!
-BLT leaf shutter, can synch at any speed up to 1/800
-You need to use phocus software that comes with the Hassleblad but you can export it all at .tiff or .jpeg.
-You can download phocus for free.
